Mrs. Stuttler’s accelerated English 10 class just received their first letters back from their pen pals who are juniors at a high school in North Carolina. This activity connects to the novel Mrs. Stuttler’s students are reading called, “I Will Always Write Back.” Students were thrilled to read their letters and continue the correspondence by writing back.

Please enter the stadium at the Southwest pass gate. Please congregate by the flagpole at 6:30pm to honor our great flag during the marching bands’ playing of the national anthem. After the national anthem, Veterans are invited to return to the stadium seats and enjoy the game.
The Galion City School students, staff, and community are grateful to everyone who has served our great country.
Thank you Veterans!

Stay Engaged with Your Kids Online!
Have you talked to your kids about the mobile apps they’re using? Engaging in conversations about their online experiences can help you understand how these apps work and address any concerns, such as cyberbullying or interacting with strangers.
We encourage you to monitor the apps your children use and all online activity including social media and gaming sites. Know which apps are tracking location. Know who they “follow” and who is “following” them. Set boundaries and create a safe online environment for our children. Being proactive can help them navigate the digital world more safely!

Congratulations! Galion High School has been selected as one of the high school sports programs to receive funds from the 2024 McDonald’s High School Sports Digital Fundraiser!
On September 26th, local area McDonald’s restaurants will be raising money for local high school sports programs. Restaurants will be donating 10% of all digital sales made in the McDonald’s App on 9/26 to your school’s athletic department.

Did you know that missing just two days of school each month can add up to a full year of missed class time over a student’s school career? Attendance matters! When students are chronically absent, they miss opportunities to learn, build relationships, develop their mental health and well-being and access to critical resources available at school.

Social Media awareness is the under standing of the impact and implications of our interaction with social media. It includes being mindful and making a conscious effort to use social media responsibly and respectfully. Some important tips include:
Be aware of what you post - is it true, is it helpful, is it inspiring, is it necessary, is it kind?
Be aware of who you are talking to - not everyone is who they say they are.
Know what information is being collected from the apps and sites you visit.
Limit what you share about yourself and others - are you sharing too much information about you or your children?
Finally and most importantly, NEVER agree to meet some

Today we celebrate National IT Professionals Day at Galion City Schools.
Hailey Sheppard is just beginning her career in IT but has already been a tremendous asset to our district. We look forward to seeing her grow and establish new skills as well as relationships with our staff and students.
For 20 years of dedicated service to our school district, Steven Hammond has made an incredible impact. His expertise, problem-solving skills, and unwavering commitment to keeping our technology running smoothly has been a cornerstone of our success. He has not only kept us connected and secure but has also shown patience, professionalism, and a genuine care for our staff and students. Thank you, Steven, for your outstanding contributions and for being an irreplaceable part of our team for two decades!

School officials and Galion Police received information on Wednesday evening about an unsubstantiated rumor about a threat against our schools. Please rest assured that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we have taken this matter very seriously.
As soon as we became aware of the rumor of the threat, the reaction was swift and investigations began. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has come forward with information about this safety concern. We cannot stress enough the importance of community involvement in such situations. Please report any suspicious activity by calling Galion Police at 419-468-9111, calling or texting our school safety tip line at 513-916-1080, or emailing tigertipline@galionschools.org.
Thank you.

September is Attendance Awareness Month. We love all our Tigers and we look forward to seeing each of them at school Monday-Friday. This week we are taking a look at some facts about truancy. Truancy is defined as missing 30 consecutive hours, 48 hours in a month, or 72 hours in a year when a legitimate excuse is not provided. It is important to note that all medical notes are excused and up to 10 parent notes are accepted each year. Disciplinary absences or medical removals do not count toward truancy hours. Truancy laws are mandated by Ohio Law and school districts must follow these laws even to the point of possibly filing charges against a student or parent. If you have any questions or concerns about the attendance policy please reach out to your building office and we will be happy to answer your questions.
