Our library isn't a room, it's everywhere! Miss Speck and Mrs. Talbott's room knows all about it 📖

Our GHS football players are spending some of their time to come read to our GIS students on Fridays during the season. They are leaders on and off the field here at Galion 🧡

Mrs. Dick jumped in with our 4th-graders at Gaga ball during Friday Club.
They were quick to change that excited face to their game face as they all worked hard to get her out 😅

Each Friday, our multi-age classroom hosts a teacher coffee cart!
Our students collect, fill, and pass out orders to our staff for an end of week treat ☕️

Today was the first of many library visits from the Galion Public Library! Mrs. Ferguson introduced the student to new books at the library available, and played a few games - limbo and a modified version of Hedbandz 📚

Laila, Harper and Clara Mae are perfecting those sewing skills 🪡 what a GREAT skill to have!

October is just around the corner and with it comes SOCKTOBER! GIS is inviting you all to join us in collecting brand new socks for those in need in our community. Over the last nine years we have collected over 15,000 new pairs of socks. I cannot wait to see how many pairs of socks we can collect this year!
Socktober Details:
Each WEDNESDAY in October (4th, 11th, 18th, 25th) students can bring in socks to dress down.
2 pairs of socks = shirt of choice
3 pairs of socks = jeans
5 pairs of socks = hat
6 pairs of socks = shirt of choice, jeans and a hat

Check out Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Fisher, and Miss Duckworth's homerooms taking advantage of this beautiful Friday weather during their Library special today! ☀️📚

Our multi-aged classroom has been working hard at earning those well deserved breaks 👏🏻

#StartWithHelloWeek teaches students to be more inclusive and connected to one another. Be a part of our culture change and SAY HELLO 👋🏻💚

Makerspace has a little bit of everything for everyone!!

3rd-Graders, Carter and Branson, studied about, then 3D printed the Titanic 🛥️
What a fun way to put learning into the palm of our hands!

September is Attendance Awareness Month 📆

Next week (9/18-9/22) is Start with HELLO Week 💚

GIS let the dogs out today! 🦮
Miss Victoria, director of the Humane Society for Crawford County, brought with her the lovable German Shepherd, AJ.
She spoke with students about past donations we have made to the Humane Society as well as animal safety 🐾
We will be conducting a community service project that will benefit the Humane Society starting in January.

Yesterday, students had a "browsing" day in which they got to preview all our school store items available! 👀
Students earn tickets throughout their day for demonstrating our 3 B's (BE Respectful, BE Responsible, and BE Safe). Opportunities such as following directions the first time, volunteering answering questions, and being kind to others!
Students will begin redeeming prizes with their tickets starting next Friday 🎟️

Today was our first Houses Team Building day! Students met up for a "speed dating" session to get to know their new teammates by asking questions about each other's interests, some "would you rather" questions, and even some special memories. Our House Teams consist of two different grade-levels on the same team. We loved seeing our older students model leadership for our youngers! Featured here is Guy, Garver, and Keller/Seng's Homerooms (Onraka 🧡), Talbott and Duckworth's Homerooms (Isibindi 💚), and Stinehour and Prince/Showecker (Amistrad ❤️)

Attention 5th-grade band students and families 📣
For those who signed up for our band, please make sure to attend this fitting!
It's not too late to sign up for band - QR codes are in each 5th-grade homeroom and our music room. They may sign up there.
Band starts Monday, Sept. 18th!
** If they are unable to attend the meeting, they can get an instrument through Metronome at the store or contact Mrs. O'Deens (odeens.theresa@galionschools.org) to see if we have any instrument availability at the school!

Last Friday, Galion High School held Elementary Night at their home football game 🏈
Staff helped students get game-ready with hair color and temporary tattoos!
Thank you to all the families that stopped by and THANK YOU to all the staff members who came and helped the students sport their orange and blue! 💙🧡

Our third-graders have been working hard today!
Miss Duckworth's class learned about the scientific method through "The Great Cookie Dunk" lab in science today. 🍪
And in Miss Speck's class, students are working on creating their own timelines for social studies! 📍
